Miniature Poodles

Poodles are surprisingly one of the earliest dog breeds. They range in sizes from large to very small breeds. Breed for the outdoors poodles are remarkably smart, intelligent and loyal dogs. They learn very quickly and love to play around nature.  Poodles do just fine in any environment and quickly feel quite at home in a house or an apartment as long as they are mostly kept indoors because poodles enjoy companionship with their owners.

The average Miniature Poodle is around 15 inches tall and weighs about 17 pounds. The Standard Poodle stands 15 inches and taller weighing around 60-70 pounds depending on the gender.

The poodle is a generally a healthy dog breed although there are some diseases and health conditions that they are easily prone to suffer from. you must have in mind that like all living things, not every poodle would become afflicted with health problems but it helps to be aware of the risks your miniature poodle is exposed to health wise.

Poor feeding habits may cause your poodle to become over weight and selective of his food which would affect his nutrition and development. feed your dog meals that are especially designed for him. Portion control, proper hydration and lots of exorcise are beneficial to your poodle. Buying the right kind of food for your poodle is the first step to maintaining a healthy diet.

since poodles are quick learners it is important to instill characteristic behaviors you want your dog to display as early as possible and to maintain a set tempo.

The average lifespan of a miniature poodle is 12 years but with good nutrition and exercise they can live for 15 years quite a long life span compared to other dog breeds.

Poodles are quite protective and territorial of their homes and environment. They generally bark when a stranger approaches. Their barks could be very uncomfortable to neighbors. This trait you can tame by teaching them to be silent whenever a new person is around. With time they get accustomed to seeing new people without barking and feeling territorial.
